The Bb blog gets a makeover, slowly… but surely…

Spring is in the air and with that comes the need to reorganize, clean things up a bit and work on a little marketing for Bb. :) I have all these ideas in the back of my head for Bb & Red Rooster… it’s finding the time to work on them that’s the trick! Clients projects of course come first and with Spring on its way, the flower & veggie gardens are calling my name. Anywhooo… I am working on reorganizing the Bb blog. Don’t you love it when things are organized & all in their place! I reorganized the blog into the following categories…

Bb {Portfolio} : featuring Bb projects to give you ideas on what we can do for you
Design, Marketing, Social Tips : Everything from Marketing, Design, Brand, Social {e.g. facebook etc} and maybe even a garden & cooking tip or two thrown in.
Inspiration & Gift Ideas : What inspires me, what inspires you? and Gift Ideas
Quotables : inspiring, provoking, funny, clever quotes
Fabulous Freebies : Fonts, Textures, Software, Bb Notecards — who doesn’t love a good FREEBIE!
Behind the Biz : Featuring some of the businesses that I have the opportunity to work with and the who & inspiration behind them. My clients ROCK and I want to share a little more about them and how they got to where they are today.
DIY {Your Way} : Do it Yourself Projects
I {heart} cooking/baking : Recipes… :)
Red Rooster Trading Company : posts and pics about what Red Rooster is up to.
RiBbet : Most of you might know that I love to make cards, still do, just haven’t had a lot of time to spend here. RiBbet will be the place to find the Bb cards. Someday, I plan to have an online shop exclusively for them.

I went through all the previous posts and organized them according to category, so, you can start browsing. Hope you have some fun and get some ideas & tips along the way. Thanks for stopping by and hope to have you again! Look for Mondays post next!

Bb Wanted Baby Announcements

It’s been a while since my last post… I got to do these baby announcements back in 2010.

Baby announcements, shower invites, shower favors… everything baby… some of my favorite things. This family found Bb baby through google, searching for baby annoucements they fell in love with the Bb Wanted Baby Announcements. It was such fun to design these announcements for little Foster. Isn’t he one of the cutest babies you ever did see… it was a breeze designing around his adorable face and check out those bright eyes!! I {heart} my job!!

Along with the announcements mom wanted a poster to go with… LOVE LOVE how it turned out. Excited to see it framed! Thanks Cyndi & Mark for choosing Bb baby to announce Foster’s arrival.

daisy baby announcement

Since it’s Friday, I thought I would share a fun baby announcement I got to do a while ago. Our dear friends, Nate & Jessi, had one of the cutest little babies ever. Her name is Anne… I had the privilege of designing her baby announcements. Nate & Jess pretty much gave me freedom to do whatever I wanted… Jess does love flowers & one of her favorites is the daisy. So, I took that and ran… of course I found the cutest pink envelopes with a string to close it & added some coordinating thank yous! When you have such a sweet face to design around… you really can’t go wrong. See pics below. :)

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!!

Bridal Shower Invites with Hydrangeas & Calla Lillies…you really can’t go wrong.

Hi there… thought I would leave you with this for the weekend. I was asked by a friend to design an invite for a bridal shower they were throwing. She told me the bride to be’s colors were navy & copper, flowers were Calla Lilies & Blue Hydrangeas. Oh… how that got my mind spinning! I love both those flowers & was excited to see what I could find to bring in the copper… I was able to take a photo of each flower, stylize them & create a beautiful bouquet to use as the main design element for the invite. And oh my goodness… I found the coolest copper envelopes ever! Check out the end result below.

You know… custom invites & announcements {whether for a wedding or baby} might be a little more expensive than the bulk pack you can get at walmart… but do you know the joy of getting such a piece of art in the mail. I get so excited when I receive a hand-written note, letter or a beautiful custom baby announcement or wedding invite — it makes me feel special… that they would take the time & effort to put something like that together or pay someone else to do it. A lot of times people cherish these pieces and don’t just throw them away. They keep them to remember that special occasion, some might even frame such a thing of beauty.

Anyway… I will stop rambling & let you enjoy the pics below. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! — Britta

Custom Christmas Cards

So, we’re back-tracking a bit… but just wanted to share this fun project I did before Christmas. I had the fun time of designing a Christmas card for the McKee family. It is a flat Christmas card designed to fit in a beautiful Red #10 envelope that opens from the top. It is a simple yet fun design not taking the focus away from the pic but maybe actually complementing it… what a concept. :) The photography is by the one and only vagabond photography, it is always fun to work with Amanda. It makes my job as a designer so much easier and more fun when I have amazing pics to work with.

Tina wrote…”We had an abundance of compliments on the cards. Everyone loved them, they thought they were just a little different than everyone elses.” {note from the designer: I love that they were just a little different than everyone elses, sounds like maybe they stood out from the crowd a bit. :)}

It is never too early to start thinking about your custom Christmas {baby, anniversary, save the date, wedding, you name it} cards. If you are interested in custom stationary I would love to hear from you… design@brittaburrus.com or (509) 429.1989

Thanks for stopping by and taking a step back to 2009 with me! Have a great weekend!

Beach baby! announcements.

This is the third set of baby announcements in Bbs ‘everything happens in 3′s’. What a fun run it has been… so the parents wanted something surfer/beach but not overboard to announce their bouncing baby boy’s arrival. Check out Jack’s announcements below and see what we came up with. Congrats to Brent, Becky, Leah & Ella on your new arrival and thanks for thinking of Bb for your baby announcements!

These are designed as #10 flat announcements with coordinating envelopes. I also designed matching labels and Thank yous to go with the announcement.

Thanks for stopping by and if you (or someone you know) need to announce the arrival of your new bundle of joy feel free to call (509) 429.1989 or email to get started.

WANTED :: custom baby announcements!

I have been reading lately about the importance of consistency… whether it is your blog :P, parenting, marriage… seems like it is good to be consistent in everything. (Besides that I think you are supposed to have a little fun in life and I so enjoy designing cards.) So, I am taking a break from my ‘to do’ list to add my latest fun project… Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the post!!

They say that things come in three… well after Judah’s announcements I have had two more to design & build. This one is from a repeat client — yay! that means they are happy with Bb :). I got an email and their little boys name is Cody James, she told me it sounds ‘outlawish’ (I loved that!) and they wanted to go with a WANTED poster type announcement. This one was a lot of fun, see how they turned out below. Congrats to Andy, Jessi, Stevie & Hunter on your newest addition to the family!

Check back soon for the next ‘surfer/beach’ announcements. If you are interested in pricing for a baby announcement you have seen here or want to go custom give me a jingle (660.883.5523) or email (design@brittaburrus.com) and I would love to work with you.

custom baby announcements

This was an easy one. Not only did i have one of the cutest babies ever but i also had vagabond (mom) taking the pics. All this made my job pretty easy. I got to do the shower invites as well and pulled some of the theme – zoo animals – into the announcement, notice the giraffe on the vellum overlay. Check out these custom baby announcements below. And if you (or someone you know) is interested in custom baby announcements give me a jingle (660) 883-5523 or email and i would love to discuss your ideas and give you a FREE estimate.

zoo baby! journal & photo book.

I blogged a little while ago about the zoo baby! shower theme & I forgot to take pictures of the journal & photo book that I built for the momma to be. I used the same images to decorate the cover. Inside I put several thicker pages throughout to add pictures and some fun lined pages to record thoughts, letters & baby’s momentous occasions!

I keep saying that it is all in the details & I must say that the shower would NOT have been such a huge success without the help of momma to be’s best friends, Jamie & April & her own momma, Melinda. Jamie brought a homemade fabulous Cherry cheesecake, which she drizzled chocolate over as a finishing touch! (Mmm… see pics below) It is wonderful to have so many people that love you, momma to be!! Thank You all who pitched in to make this shower such a fun memory for all who attended!
